Alliant Energy in Iowa seeks a Plant Operator (Apprentice/Journey) responsible for the safe and efficient operation of steam turbine generating units and auxiliary equipment on a shift. You will monitor gauges, start and shut down units, and maintain logs while obeying safety rules and environmental laws.

You will work with the Operations team, perform troubleshooting, assist with maintenance and training, and participate in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures to keep the plant compliant and productive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read P&ID, operating manuals and technical documents.
• Mechanical aptitude and quick, accurate decisions during emergencies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to maintain logs.

Responsabilités

• Operate control equipment to run boilers, turbines and auxiliaries safely.
• Start, operate, inspect and shut down steam turbine units per procedures.
• Monitor pressures, temperatures and flows; record readings accurately.
• Prepare logs and reports; inform supervisor of abnormal conditions.
• Troubleshoot and assist maintenance; follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.

That's why we prioritize safety, offer volunteer opportunities and provide competitive pay, comprehensive health and retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement and paid time off.This role may be filled at the Apprentice or Journey level dependent upon qualifications.Training Locations:Burlington Generating StationResidency Requirements:Not subject to residency requirements.Job SummaryResponsible for the safe and efficient operation of all steam turbine generating units, steam generating units, auxiliary equipment, etc., in the plant for a given shift.What you will doDemonstrate leadership in the area of safety.Observe safety rules, policies, and practices.Encourage safe work behaviors and promptly correct conditions and unsafe behavior which may lead to accidents.Ensure strict adherence to corporate values in complying with all environmental, safety and other laws and regulations.Ensure that all aspects of plant operations remain in compliance with environmental rules and regulations.Operate control equipment to obtain safe and proper operation of boilers, turbines and auxiliary equipment.Start, operate, inspect and shut down all steam turbine generating units, steam generating units and all associated auxiliary equipment.Observe and record pressures, temperatures and flows on all operating equipment; check to see that all meters and gauges indicate normal conditions for loading on units.Operate switchboard and associated equipment to obtain safe and proper operation of plant and system electrical equipment.Prepare logs and reports as required.Inform the Operating Crew Foreman (where applicable) or supervisor of any abnormal or unusual conditions that may occur.Performs troubleshooting activities related to plant operating systems.Assist in cleaning and housekeeping of all plant equipment and operating areas.Assist in training of employees.Assist in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures to take equipment out of service and to restore equipment to active status.Perform PM and may assist with maintenance work.Perform all work according to established procedures and safety practices.Must report to work fit for duty and free from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.The above duties are not an inclusive list of duties to be performed for this position.
