Job summary

Alliant Energy in Madison, WI seeks an Apprentice/Journey level instrument and control technician to support generation plant maintenance. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, read blueprints, follow safety procedures, and contribute to reliability and efficiency across the plant workforce.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Journey level in the instrument and control trade; Completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship Program.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Residence within 60 minutes of one of the listed locations: Columbia, Edgewater, Riverside, or Madison.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems; basic electrical and basic mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with steam plant cycles and operations; strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform control and instrument, and basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, cleaning, inspection and construction of equipment for the generation facility.
• Maintain and install plant control systems and instrumentation; calibrate and test equipment.
• Process necessary documentation and use appropriate tools.
• Interpret data from devices to support diagnostics and work activities.
• Support safety, plant reliability, productivity, and efficiency improvements through continuous improvement.
• Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned; follow established procedures and safety practices.
