Job summary

The AES Corporation in Indiana is seeking an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution Standards team. You will help develop and improve standards for electrical systems from 12 kV to 345 kV, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operation across AES Indiana and AES Ohio.

Responsibilities include providing technical guidance, updating construction standards, and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure designs meet safety and project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and apply technical documentation, including IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
• Senior Engineer requires 3+ years of experience; Engineer requires 1+ year in transmission, distribution, and/or substation systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support engineering standards related to transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, construction, and field services teams to ensure designs meet safety, quality, reliability, and project objectives.
• Contribute to the development of equipment specifications, design guides, and construction standards for electrical systems from 12 kV to 345 kV.
• Support multiple technical disciplines (Overhead/Underground Distribution, Transmission Line Design, Substation Equipment).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry practices to improve standards and design methodologies.
• Participate in site visits, equipment investigations, and incident reviews to identify root causes and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with AES Ohio and AES Indiana teams to align practices and standardize approaches.
• Work with stakeholders to develop practical and effective solutions balancing safety, cost, constructability, and asset management.
• Develop, review, and update construction standards and engineering drawings with drafting teams.
• Research and apply technical documentation and manufacturer information to support sound engineering decisions.
