Job summary

Orange & Rockland Utilities (O&R) seeks an Engineer to support Planning and enhance distribution and transmission systems for safe, reliable power. You will identify clean energy investments, participate in load forecasting, and develop solutions like new substations and NWAs.

You will work with NYISO, PJM, and regional planning groups and attend industry meetings. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 3 years of experience, strong communication, and ability to travel within the

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3 years of engineering work experience.
• Must be well organized, detail-oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, required.
• Capable of independent work with planning concepts and electric system analysis, required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with customers, staff, and management, required.
• Strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills; demonstrated leadership on cross-functional projects, required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of engineering work experience with electric power systems; familiarity with system planning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct annual load forecasting, contingency analysis, and NWA evaluations to identify system needs.
• Collaborate with the Utility of the Future team to support NY/NJ clean energy goals and long-term strategies.
• Identify and justify capital projects for the ten-year electric delivery system plan.
• Develop conceptual designs and documentation for T&D system improvements.
• Perform distribution system modeling and analysis including voltage profiles and loss studies.
• Review interconnection studies, attend DER meetings, and support DER planning.
• Conduct steady-state power flow, voltage stability, and transfer analyses to meet planning criteria and standards.
• Prepare engineering procedure guides, reports, and presentations.
