Job summary

Orange & Rockland Utilities seeks an Engineer to support Engineering Planning, enhance distribution and transmission systems, and identify clean energy investments aligned with NY/NJ goals.

The role involves load forecasting, contingency analysis, and developing solutions such as substation upgrades and NWAs. Collaboration with NYISO/JU/EDC, stakeholder meetings, and technical committees is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience with electric power systems planning or design is preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical and teamwork abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct load forecasting and contingency analysis to identify system needs.
• Develop plans for transmission and distribution improvements and NWAs.
• Evaluate capital projects for ten-year delivery system plan and reliability goals.
• Create design documents, cost/benefit analyses, and technical justifications.
• Perform power flow, voltage, and transfer analyses to meet standards.
• Provide operational support including voltage regulation and transformer settings.
• Attend DER meetings and review interconnection studies.
• Coordinate with NYISO, PJM, NPCC, and RFC on planning studies.
• Prepare engineering procedure guides and presentations.
