Job summary

Versant Power is seeking a T&D Construction Planner to design pole line layouts across 34.5kv–69kv projects, coordinate with internal/external stakeholders, and manage complex capital-run plans. The role requires expertise in construction practices, permitting, and safety standards, with leadership duties for the planning team.

The position supports field construction and relocations, ensuring conformance with NESC/NEC and MDOT/FAA requirements, while mentoring others and delivering on timelines.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 7+ years utility planning/engineering or 10 years of experience required.
• Experience in construction standards, regulatory codes, cost estimates, and contracts with utilities.
• Knowledge of surveying, drafting, blueprint reading, and power electronics preferred.
• Experience with PC-based software including CAD, spreadsheets, databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and stake pole line locations safely per codes and standards.
• Coordinate design and construction of overhead/underground lines with stakeholders.
• Coordinate infrastructure replacement program designs and related projects.
• Prepare pole permits, easements, FAA, railroad, and other permits.
• Prepare detailed construction plans and cost estimates.
• Mentor other planning staff and provide coverage as needed.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, and Versant Power standards.
