Position Overview

Systems Test Engineer Level 2 / 3 at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Sunnyvale, CA. Responsible for development and ongoing support of surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the U.S. Navy.

Security Clearance

Clearance required: Secret. No initial clearance required; candidate must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Travel Requirements

Travel: Yes, 10% of the time. Occasional visits to customers for technical reviews and test planning; travel may increase to 30% during test events.

Responsibilities

• Support current and future system testing for launcher programs.
• Perform functional and scheduling analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation/verification, and interface definition studies.
• Conduct system integration, installation, test, operation, maintenance, and disposal activities.
• Develop test system architecture, test plans and procedures, execute testing, and communicate results.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, provide technical reviews, and document outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience; or Master’s degree with 0+ years.
• Experience with mechanical test plans and procedures.
• Participation in test meetings.
• Exposure to test reports and requirement verification.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 5+ (Bachelor) or 3+ (Master) years of relevant experience.
• Experience creating mechanical test plans and procedures.
• Experience writing test reports.
• Experience with requirement verification.

Salary

Level 2: $91,800 - $137,600. Level 3: $114,000 - $171,000.
