Job summary

Fresh Consulting is a design-led developer of software and hardware solutions with a strong testing focus in Redmond. The System Test Engineer will ensure high-quality user experiences by designing, implementing and executing tests for prototypes and production-ready systems.

You will calibrate processes, run experiments, and collaborate with design engineers to maintain standards in both lab and factory environments, including CI testing and automated test development.

Qualifications

• BS in EE, CE, or Physical Sciences with 1+ years of technical experience.
• Hands-on background with testing and the design of complex testing systems.
• Excellent understanding of electromechanical assembly processes.
• Capable of working in both Linux and Windows environments.
• Understanding of software and hardware fundamentals, with practical sensor experience (cameras, microphones) and I2C/SPI/I2S.
• Knowledge in production control, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Ability to document and execute tests per design specs.
• Ability to specify test stations, diagnostics, process control, and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and execute tests to find and isolate bugs and issues.
• Design and run experiments to determine system limits.
• Design and implement tests and calibration processes for crucial modules and prototypes.
• Assist in the development of instruments, algorithms, fixtures, infrastructure, and diagnostic software.
• Assist in the development of automated tests and CI for the above.
• Work with design engineers to ensure equipment and processes meet standards.
• Serve as the main contact for calibration, testing, and other prototype processes.
• Track, report and resolve bugs with design engineers.
• Perform tasks in both factory and lab contexts.

Title: System Test Engineer

Duration: Long term position

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality standards to enable a consistently sound user experience
• Collaborate with design engineers to determine test parameters and various test conditions for the prototype
• Design, implement and execute tests to find and isolate bugs and issues
• Design and run experiments to determine system limits
• Design and implement tests and calibration processes for crucial modules and prototypes
• Assist in the development of instruments, algorithms, fixtures, infrastructure, and diagnostic software for the above
• Assist in the development of automated tests and/or CI for the above
• Work closely with design engineers to ensure that any equipment and processes meet standards
• Serve as the main contact for calibration, testing, and other processes for prototypes
• Track, report and work with design engineers to resolve bugs
• Perform the tasks above in the context for a factory and in a lab

Qualifications

• BS in EE, CE, Physical Sciences with 1+ years of technical experience
• Hands-on background with testing and the design of complex testing systems

• Understanding of software and hardware fundamentals, with practical experience with sensors such as cameras and microphones, as well as protocols such as I2C, SPI, and I2S
• Knowledge in production control processes, data analysis and interpretation
• Ability to develop, document and execute tests per specifications from design engineers
• Ability to specify and implement test stations, diagnostics, process control and data collection
• Ability to deal with dynamic, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environments

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in EE, CE, Physical Sciences with 3+ years of technical experience
• Project management experiences would be a bonus
• Knowledge in gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), correlation analysis
• Experience with synchronization and wireless communication would be a bonus
• Practical knowledge with LEDs, as well as geometric and photometric calibrations
• Practical knowledge with advanced devices and protocols such as FPGA and USB
• Fluent in Python or other scripting languages to help automate testing and reporting

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Range $60/hr - $65/hr.
