About the Role
As a Manager, Systems Administration, you will lead a team responsible for the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of enterprise infrastructure environments that support critical business operations and fintech services. You will oversee system administration practices, operational excellence initiatives, and infrastructure modernization efforts across server, cloud, virtualization, and platform technologies. You will partner closely with technology, security, engineering, business stakeholders, and client leaders to deliver stable and resilient technology services.
This role is focused on leadership, operational excellence, client engagement, team development, and service delivery rather than day-to-day technical administration. While a strong technical foundation is required, success in this position is driven by leadership, stakeholder management, operational outcomes, and team performance.
The successful candidate will leverage prior technical experience to provide guidance, coaching, and informed decision-making across the technologies supported by the team while leading day-to-day operational activities. Success in this role is measured through system availability, security compliance, service quality, operational efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and team development.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead, mentor, and develop systems administration professionals while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage employee performance, coaching, career development, succession planning, hiring, and workforce planning activities for the team
- Manage enterprise infrastructure operations to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability of critical systems.
- Oversee administration of Windows, Linux, virtualized, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Establish operational objectives, service standards, and performance metrics aligned to business priorities.
- Drive infrastructure modernization, automation, and optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement and maintain security controls, patch management, and compliance requirements.
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and service restoration activities.
- Manage capacity planning, system lifecycle management, backup strategies, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to support application delivery, platform integration, and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain operational processes, technical standards, documentation, and governance practices.
- Act as the technical quarterback for all Managed IT services supporting the client.
- Serve as the technical trusted advisor.
- Coordinate across engineering, operations, cloud, security, and support teams to meet client needs.
- Lead service delivery efforts and bring together the right teams to resolve issues and drive outcomes.
- Manage and guide direct team members when applicable.
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders through regular meetings.
- Partner with account management team for future business needs, projects, and technology roadmaps with clients
- Help ensure FIS services evolve to keep pace with client expectations.
- Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for service improvement.
- Support escalations and coordinate resolution of critical issues.
- Lead regular service reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Account Management to align service delivery with client goals.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and a proactive client experience across all supporting teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience leading systems administration, infrastructure operations, or platform support teams.
- Strong understanding of enterprise operating systems, server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, cloud technologies, and infrastructure operations gained through prior hands‑on experience, with the ability to provide technical leadership and informed guidance across supported technologies.
- Experience managing infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and operational service delivery.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, identity and access management, security controls, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Experience with automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
