Job summary

Qualifications

Knowledge of the operating systems, networks, and platforms supported.
Hardware knowledge including mainframe, servers, workstations, peripherals.
Skill with operating system software, utilities and related tools.
Ability to identify and communicate problems to vendors effectively.
Analytical mindset; ability to work independently to resolve issues.
CS background with emphasis on systems software and related experience.
Experience with at least one related platform and OS.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, install, configure, and maintain enterprise OSes and test releases.
Monitor performance; assist capacity planning and DASD management.
Analyze and troubleshoot OS problems and coordinate with vendors for fixes.
Advise staff on complex applications to avoid incompatibilities with software capabilities.
Document changes to system functions and configurations for reference.
Review and evaluate new or upgraded system software and hardware; provide recommendations.
