Job summary

University of Dayton in Dayton, OH seeks a Systems Engineer to join the Enterprise Enabling Technologies team. You will administer Windows and Linux servers, monitor performance, apply patches, and maintain a secure, scalable infrastructure across enterprise systems. Collaborative with cross-functional groups and on-call support may be required. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible role with a strong security and reliability focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field OR at least four years of equivalent relevant experience required
• Experience with OS (linux / windows) installation and administration
• Working knowledge of servers, networking, firewalls, and virtualization
• Experience working on multiple projects in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users and support staff
• Ability to collaborate professionally with a diverse group of users and support staff
• Senior systems engineer qualifications: at least three years in an enterprise environment

Responsibilities

• Provide systems administration support for Windows and Linux servers and related software
• Perform server administration of virtual and physical servers and maintain server hardware
• Handle change management, performance monitoring, and system maintenance
• Monitor security alerts and install tested patches and upgrades
• Collaborate with leadership, systems architect, and other engineers to apply standards
• Occasionally work on-call hours after hours, weekends, and holidays
