Position Overview
Design Solutions and Integration (DSI) is seeking a Field Automation Engineer in Midland, Texas. The role requires 5 days a week, 10 hours a day, with overtime as needed, and daily driving between field locations in the Permian Basin (Texas and New Mexico).
Key Responsibilities
- On‑site startup, services, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- On‑site PLC/HMI troubleshooting and programming.
- On‑site ROC troubleshooting and programming.
- On‑site Total Flow troubleshooting and programming.
- On‑site instrument troubleshooting and programming.
- On‑site SCADA point‑to‑point and mapping configuration and verification.
- On‑site radio troubleshooting and programming.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Instrumentation, Automation, Controls, or a related program.
- Four (4) years of oil‑field automation experience with PLC, HMI, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of oil‑field automation concepts: CTB, SWD, Well pad, LACT, Compressor, Pipeline, Storage.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive daily to field locations.
- Must pass a follicle drug test, if required.
- Ability to read blueprints and PID drawings.
- Proficient, self‑motivated, assertive, dependable.
Technical Skills
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – Rockwell Automation, Schneider, IDEC, Direct Logix, GE; RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench.
- Rockwell Automation Hardware – Tele‑pace, Workbench, SoMove, Unity Pro, Automation Organizer, Direct Soft, Click, Productivity, Proficy Machine Edition.
- Flow Computers & RTU Devices – ROC FB and 800 series, ABB Totalflow, RMC, Flow Computer, RTU, Flow Meter, Level Transmitter, HART Software.
- HMI Systems – Rockwell Automation, Schneider, IDEC, Red Lion, Maple, Beijer; Factory Talk View ME/SE, Vijeo, Automation Organizer, Crimson, EZwarePlus, EBPro, ROCLINK, iX developer.
- Communications – Ethernet, Serial, Cat5/Cat6 termination, Ethernet‑to‑serial/fiber converters, Ethernet managed/unmanaged switches, fiber connection types, RS232/RS422/RS485, HART loop, MODBUS, TCP/IP, DeviceNet, CAN, Wireless (Cambium, Freewave, Zeta, MDS).
- Instrumentation – Level Sensors/Radar, Float Sticks, Pressure Sensors, Flow Meters (Coriolis, magnetic, ultrasonic, turbine), 4‑20 mA devices, VFD programming and troubleshooting.
- Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneDrive, Teams.
Compensation
$60 – $80 per hour.
