Systems Integration Test Bench Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Connected Services test bench environments used for vehicle integration and validation activities.
This role combines hands-on automotive electronics expertise with laboratory operations, test infrastructure ownership, and system integration support. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining multiple integration test benches, ensuring hardware and software configurations are current, supporting engineering investigations, and coordinating test resources across multiple projects and global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and upgrade automotive system integration test benches.
- Support Connected Services, telematics, over-the-air (OTA), and vehicle integration testing activities.
- Maintain approximately 12 test benches with current hardware and software configurations.
- Create and maintain wiring diagrams, harness documentation, and bench configurations.
- Configure and support engineering workstations, remote access systems, and testing infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve vehicle communication and integration issues utilizing CAN, CAN-FD, UDS, and J1939 protocols.
- Utilize Vector tools including CANoe, CANalyzer, and CANape for diagnostics, analysis, and validation.
- Support ECU flashing, software updates, calibration, and validation efforts.
- Reproduce and investigate customer-reported and vehicle system issues.
- Manage test bench scheduling, allocation, and utilization across multiple engineering teams.
- Maintain inventory and asset records for ECUs, harnesses, sensors, modems, and lab equipment.
- Coordinate procurement activities and support inventory audits.
- Develop bench build guides, troubleshooting procedures, and technical documentation.
- Standardize hardware and software configurations across test bench environments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on test bench reliability, efficiency, and laboratory operations.
- Provide regular updates regarding bench health, utilization, maintenance activities, and project allocations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive electronics, systems integration, validation, test bench development, or laboratory operations.
- Strong knowledge of:
- CAN / CAN-FD
- SAE J1939
- Connected Vehicle and Telematics systems
- Hands-on experience with Vector tools such as:
- CANoe
- CANape
- Experience supporting ECU integration, diagnostics, software validation, and vehicle communication systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple engineering teams and projects.
