Job Title: Systems Integration Engineer
Location: Mountain View, CA (Onsite)
Fulltime
Job Descriptions:
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- Deployed system experience (hands-on with integrated HW/SW systems), ideally in a fast-paced technology or automotive environment.
- System Troubleshooting: Strong hands-on experience assembling, debugging, and testing complex hardware and software systems.
- Broad knowledge across electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering fields, with the ability to quickly master new technical topics.
- Software Skills: Working knowledge of an object-oriented programming language (e.g., Python, C++).
Preferred qualifications:
- High-level understanding of autonomous vehicle subsystems (sensors, compute, wiring harnesses, power distribution, vehicle actuators).
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical components of modern passenger vehicle control systems (chassis communication, controls, braking, steering).
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic equipment (Digital Multimeters (DMM), Oscilloscopes) and standard hand tools.
- Proficient in Python and C/C++ for scripting and basic debugging/code changes.
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in bringing complex self-driving vehicle systems to life. You will be responsible for taking designed hardware components (compute, sensors, wiring, actuators) and integrating them into functioning prototype platforms. This hands-on role bridges the gap between design engineering and manufacturing, focusing on system bring-up, multi-disciplinary debugging (mechanical, electrical, and software), and initial triage of issues to ensure prototype and production fleets are enabled on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Bring-up & Issue Troubleshooting: Investigate novel issues with self-driving vehicle systems (benches and vehicles).
- Multi-Disciplinary Debugging: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues across mechanical, electrical (EE), and software (SW) domains on self-driving systems.
- Triage & Issue Resolution: Perform first-line triage on non-functioning systems. Identify the root cause of failures, determine which sub-system/component is at fault, and collaborate with design owners to implement fixes.
- Vendor Collaboration: Partner with engineering and manufacturing vendors to support system build phases and resolve integration challenges.
- Testing & Data Collection: Design and execute tests and experiments to gather key data, verifying subsystem interfaces and requirements.
Generic Managerial Skills:
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams (design, software) and non-technical teams (operations, technicians).
