Job summary

AeroVironment’s Summer Internship Program offers immersive, hands-on exposure to cutting-edge unmanned aircraft systems. As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers on requirements development, architecture, documentation, and project planning, contributing to meaningful projects.

The role involves collaboration across Electrical, Mechanical, Software and Test disciplines, participation in design reviews, and learning MBSE tools under mentorship to support testing

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in STEM (systems, mechanical, aerospace, electrical).
• Strong interest in systems engineering and defense technology.
• Exposure to technical documentation or systems modeling through coursework.
• Familiarity with requirements development, design and integration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work in cross-functional teams.
• Interest in UAVs or aerospace systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and understand system impacts.
• Develop and document system-level requirements, ICDs, and specifications.
• Contribute to trade studies, cost/schedule estimation, and project planning.
• Assist in design reviews and prepare presentation materials.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Test engineers.
• Document system-level issues, risks, and changes.
• Support test planning and verification/validation efforts.
• Learn MBSE tools and best practices.
• Perform engineering support tasks under mentor guidance.
• Other duties as assigned.
