Systems Engineer - Senior
Employment Type: Full Time
Work hours: 40 per week, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with on‑call rotation
Location: Remote (requires occasional onsite travel)
Pay Range: $47.50–$71.25 per hour
Job Summary
Formulates and defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications, or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents those programs, primarily related to mobile device management platforms and enterprise operating systems.
Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of Mobile Device Management platforms (Workspace One, Jamf‑Pro, Apple DEP, Samsung Knox, Imprivata MAM)
- Design, code, test, debug, and document software programs that interact with operating systems and enterprise devices
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate system software installations and upgrades, ensuring change‑management processes are followed
- Create tasks, estimate effort, allocate resources, monitor progress and take corrective action as needed
- Communicate status and potential issues to staff and clients, providing recommendations and solutions
- Provide responsive technical, administrative, and departmental support
- Evaluate new and existing software products; develop and recommend solutions, including testing, documentation, and training
- Understand mobility requirements for Teams and Exchange policies, and work with vendors on system installation and setup
- Act as a technical escalation point for vendor and staff coordination, prioritizing issues and managing escalation
- Support operating systems (AIX, HP, Digital Unix) and technology applications (Tivoli, Maestro)
- Monitor system performance, recommend improvements, and ensure optimal utilization of resources
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives within Information Services
- Participate in basic budget processes and execute simple projects on time and within budget
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Experience with mobile device management and enterprise software development
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work remotely and travel onsite as needed
- Knowledge of change‑management processes and project estimation
- Experience in supporting Unix‑like operating systems and related applications
Physical Requirements
Work requires a high level of verbal and written communication and availability for callback support during evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation Base Pay: $94,724–$145,288 annually (salary equivalent to hourly rate) with opportunity for premium pay and incentive pay.
