Job summary

Ultra Electronics Group is seeking a proactive Senior Systems Engineer based in Victor, Idaho, to enhance the development of Sonobuoy and related systems. This role involves guiding system development, providing trade-space assessments, and collaborating across engineering teams.

Position Summary

Ultra Maritime seeks a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Systems Engineer to support the development of Sonobuoy and related systems. Working closely with RF, Mechanical, Electrical, Acoustic, and Software Engineers, the engineer will guide the system’s development through all phases of the engineering life cycle, provide system‑level trade‑space assessments, and contribute to key strategic approaches for future proposals, IR&D, and additional development activities.

Responsibilities
  • Guide the development and selection of key technologies for the Navy.
  • Develop, analyze, and verify system and subsystem level requirements.
  • Plan, review, and execute integration and test events for combined hardware and software systems.
  • Provide trade‑space assessments and cost estimation support.
  • Lead a small group of systems or mixed‑discipline engineers.
  • Manage requirements through DOORS.
  • Collaborate with teams throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Work with complex software algorithms and digital signal‑processing hardware.
  • Travel as needed (10%).
Qualifications
  • U.S. nationality and eligibility for a security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
  • At least 9 years of experience within a relevant complex engineering environment.
  • Significant experience with sonar systems or similar signal‑processing systems.
  • Knowledge of algorithms used for signal processing.
  • Experience with systems engineering discipline and rigor.
Expected Compensation

The expected compensation range for this role is $134,368.00 – $167,960.00.
