Job summary

Slate is seeking a Systems Engineer to own and evolve our Linux server infrastructure, container platforms, and monitoring across IT and OT environments. You will build, automate, and maintain systems from datacenter VMs to factory floor, writing Ansible playbooks and troubleshooting production outages.

This hands-on role requires experience with RHEL-family systems, Docker containers, AWS, and resilient observability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years administering RHEL-family Linux distributions (RHEL/ Rocky/ CentOS) in production.
• Strong Docker knowledge: image lifecycle, containers, networking and compose.
• Experience writing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories for automation.
• Experience deploying and administering Zabbix or similar monitoring (Nagios, LibreNMS, Prometheus/Grafana).
• AWS experience: EC2, RDS, security groups, AMIs, backups.
• Solid Linux networking and storage basics (iptables/nftables, VLANs, NFS, LVM).
• Bash scripting proficiency; comfortable in the terminal.
• Familiarity with hardware lifecycle: racking, UPS/PDU, cabling.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain RHEL/ Rocky/ CentOS servers across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Build and manage containerized workloads using Docker and compose stacks.
• Develop and maintain Ansible automation for provisioning, config management, patching, and compliance.
• Administer Zabbix monitoring, create templates, tune alerts, and build observability dashboards.
• Manage virtualization platforms and infrastructure including storage, networking, and backups.
• Provision and maintain AWS resources: EC2, RDS, security groups, and related cloud infra.
• Maintain documentation and SOPs for managed systems.
• Participate in capacity planning, change management, and incident response.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to support plant-floor technology needs.
