Job summary

Vosper Thornycroft Group is seeking a Systems Engineer to support and maintain application infrastructure across multiple network environments. You will focus on systems administration, CI/CD, automation, security compliance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining OS and app software, scripting in Python or Bash, and supporting CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Git. A 24/7 on-call rotation is required for mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience configuring and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting experience with Python or Bash.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Support application infrastructure across multiple network environments.
• Provide technical support to ensure applications and supporting infrastructure meet security and compliance requirements.
• Implement required technical standards and technical precepts across supported environments.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and automated testing capabilities.
• Administer and support Linux/Unix environments.
• Develop scripts using Python or Bash to automate system administration tasks.
• Utilize Jenkins and Git to support software integration, deployment, and configuration management activities.
• Proactively monitor system health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve availability and reliability.
• Implement and maintain system security measures, backup strategies, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving hardware, software, applications, and network components.
• Collaborate with developers, management, and other technical teams to understand requirements and implement technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain documentation covering system architecture, configurations, procedures, and operational support.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies for potential system upgrades.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support mission-critical systems.
