Job summary

Teledyne Judson Technologies seeks a Systems Engineer to design, develop, and characterize infrared detector packages. You will model with SolidWorks and Ansys, run thermal, structural, and vibrational analyses, and generate drawings and test plans.

Experience in ultra-high vacuum processing and laser welding is highly valued. The role requires cross-functional collaboration to bring new products from concept to production, with emphasis on quality, reliability, and documentation.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Mechanical Eng or related field with extensive experience.
• 15+ years related experience; 10+ years for PhD in a matching field.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical docs and reports.
• Experience with high vacuum, RGA, getter degas, pinch-off, leak check.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14 standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate requirements and design detector focal plane packaging and cooling options.
• Provide analyses for mechanical assemblies and parts.
• Generate models, drawings, and calculations for reviews.
• Prepare cost models, schedules, and risk matrices.
• Lead designers to detail parts and assist system development.
• Perform first-order heat transfer, structural, and vibration analyses.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Support material selection for TECs, cryo-coolers, getters.
• Develop test strategies, fixtures, and procedures.
• Calculate vacuum life and stress on components.
• Conduct failure analyses and root cause investigations.
• Comply with import/export rules and work with trade compliance.
• Lead project teams to successful outcomes.
