Job summary

MMB Solutions in Dayton, OH is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support AFRL research programs. You will design and integrate systems across cloud, networks, and simulation environments, aligning MBSE models with project goals.

You will work with Kubernetes-based infrastructure, high-performance computing, and AI-assisted experimentation to enable configurable, observable experiments and rapid prototyping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 3–7 years of relevant engineering experience; flexibility for strong candidates
• Experience with systems engineering, software-intensive development, or architecture
• Linux, networking, APIs, distributed systems, or cloud-native environments
• Scripting with Python, Go, Java, or similar
• Ability to communicate design decisions across disciplines
• U.S. citizenship and ability to meet government security requirements

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve architectures linking cloud, communications, simulation, data pipelines, AI/ML, and hardware
• Translate objectives into technical requirements, interfaces, and designs
• Develop and maintain architecture models and documentation to support development
• Apply MBSE concepts (SysML, DoDAF) to describe systems and behavior
• Evaluate design alternatives and address integration challenges
• Work with Kubernetes-based environments, containerized apps, distributed resources
• Integrate services, APIs, resource adapters, and orchestration into Axioma
• Connect platforms with simulation tools, networks, telemetry, and physical test resources
• Automate environment configuration, deployment, observability, and system management
• Contribute to HPC, GPU resources, cloud-native services
• Develop and evaluate AI-assisted experiments
• Explore AI to assist resource selection and environment configuration
• Integrate AI agents and MCP-compatible interfaces
• Capture system state, configurations, data relationships, experiments results
• Assess where automation adds value and where human approval is required
• Participate in software-based, simulated, laboratory, and operational experiments
• Develop test procedures, demos, verification methods, and performance assessments
• Troubleshoot integration issues across software, networks, infrastructure
• Collaborate with researchers to prototype and iterate
• Turn lessons into better architectures and reusable capabilities
