What You Will Do

The Systems Engineer I will focus on ensuring the reliability and continuous improvement of test systems used for researching Electra’s green iron process. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, implementing corrective actions, and working with engineering and scientific teams to enhance system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, develop corrective action plans.
  • Establish preventative maintenance procedures to improve system availability.
  • Monitor system performance to identify trends and improve reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and rapid prototyping.
  • Collaborate with teams to translate research and operational requirements into functional test systems.
  • Provide technical support and ensure safe operation of test platforms.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system designs and changes.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety policies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year experience in designing and building systems, especially with mechanical and electrical components.
  • Experience with fluid or pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of circuit integration and electrical systems for power and control.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C++, SQL.
  • Experience with PLC control systems or embedded systems.
Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary ranges from $72,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on skills and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, generous PTO, HSA contributions, parental leave, 401(k) with matching, and stock options.
