Job summary

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, seeks an internal Systems Engineer in the Information Technology Department to deliver reliable technology services for students, faculty, and staff. You will manage storage, virtualization, cloud services, identity access, and security compliance while supporting IT projects.

Requires an associate degree and 3+ years in system development with VMware/Hyper‑V, Azure, Entra ID, SSO, and Microsoft 365; certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and minimum 3 years in computer system development and modification.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure design, monitoring, testing and maintenance across physical and virtual servers.
• Proficiency with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), cloud services (Azure, Entra ID) and scripting tools; certifications welcome.

Responsibilities

• Maintain/monitor physical and virtual server infrastructure, manage hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V) for optimal performance and DR readiness.
• Lead and/or support IT projects (migrations, hardware refreshes, software deployments).
• Collaborate with academic and administrative units to align technology with institutional goals.
• Administers Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and other cloud services; manage identity and access (SSO, Microsoft 365).
• Implement security controls and ensure FERPA/HIPAA compliance; monitor for vulnerabilities and incidents.
• Serve as senior technical resource, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across IT units.
