Job summary

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston is seeking an internal Systems Engineer in the Information Technology Department to maintain and secure campus technology services for students, faculty, and staff.

The role emphasizes virtualization, cloud services (Azure/Entra ID), identity and access management, security controls, incident response, and mentoring of junior staff while collaborating with other IT units.

Qualifications

An associate’s degree in computer science or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in computer system development and modification.
Advanced understanding of IT infrastructure design, monitoring, testing, and maintenance, including physical and virtual server environments.
Proficiency in computer and server hardware, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and scripting tools.
Relevant certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Maintain/monitor storage and server infrastructure across virtual environments; patching, backups, DR, and performance tuning.
Lead or support IT projects including migrations, hardware refreshes, and software deployments.
Collaborate with departments to align technology solutions with goals.
Administer Azure, Entra ID, and other cloud services; manage identity and access; ensure compliance.
