Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP in Newark, NJ is seeking a Systems Engineer to support deployment, maintenance, and performance of firm software applications used by attorneys and business professionals.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in software systems implementation, strong PowerShell scripting, and experience with Microsoft configuration management, AD, 365, and Azure. This role requires collaboration across IT teams in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3+ years of experience with software systems implementation, upgrades, maintenance, and support.
• Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune, Group Policy, and related policies.
• Experience administering Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Windows 11/Server, SQL Server, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
• PowerShell scripting and application deployment, configuration, troubleshooting patches, and lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with legal/business applications including NetDocuments or similar DMS, CRM, and productivity tools in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience documenting and maintaining standard configurations for laptops/desktops with Windows 11; manage upgrades.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, deploy, monitor, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based software applications with IT teams.
• Liaise with vendors and IT personnel to resolve issues and escalate when needed.
• Monitor tickets and respond to support requests.
• Package, test, and deploy line-of-business and legal applications (document management, time-billing, productivity tools).
• Manage application lifecycle including patching and upgrades.
• Provide third-level support for escalated tickets requiring specialized expertise or vendor support.
• Maintain standard images for firm computers and document configuration standards.
• Monitor performance, availability, and reliability; recommend improvements.
• Support integrations between firm apps, Microsoft 365, DMS, and other platforms.
• Develop scripts/automation for deployment, configuration, maintenance, and reporting.
• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to IT support on application functionality and procedures.
• Support change management with documentation, testing, rollout steps, and rollback plans.
