Job description

Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer designs, installs, and maintains the technical systems behind live production across a region of Gateway campuses — audio, video, lighting, and the networks that tie them together. Where the Live Production Managers run the rooms week to week, the Systems Engineer keeps the underlying systems healthy, standardized, and ready to scale. This is a regional role covering specific campuses.

Principal Job Responsibilities:
  • Designs, installs, and maintains audio, video, and lighting systems across campuses in the assigned region
  • Owns system wiring, signal flow, and infrastructure documentation for regional campuses
  • Maintains and updates hardware, software, and equipment firmware across regional systems
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues escalated from Live Production Managers at the campuses
  • Oversees production and control networks at regional campuses, coordinating with IT and Facilities as needed
  • Performs preventative maintenance on systems, fixtures, and equipment across the region
  • Supports campus technical build-outs, upgrades, and new campus launches
  • Standardizes system configuration across regional campuses so equipment and Team Members are interchangeable between rooms
  • Maintains inventory, system records, and as-built documentation for the region
  • Partners with the Central Lighting, Video, and Audio Managers on discipline standards and equipment specification
  • Is present and serving at weekend services and churchwide events as the ministry calendar requires
  • Performs other duties as assigned. As a member of the Gateway Church team, this position is expected to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members, and to serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise.
General Skills & Qualifications:
  • A clear passion for Jesus and a strong biblical foundation
  • Strong technical knowledge of audio, video, and lighting system design, wiring, and signal flow
  • Working knowledge of production and control networks, and of the protocols live systems run on
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues independently
  • Detail-oriented, with strong documentation habits
  • Able to standardize systems across locations rather than solving each room differently
  • Able to function at a high level of effectiveness and calm under live, high-pressure conditions
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to hold several priorities at once
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and function within new software and systems
Education/Certification(s):
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical field, and three or more years of AVL systems or integration experience — required
  • Bachelor’s degree, or certification in networking, audio, video, or lighting systems — preferred
  • Prior experience in a multisite church or multi-venue environment — preferred
General Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to: Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasionally kneel or crouch. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Able to travel regularly to campuses in the assigned region, lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs, work at heights on ladders or lifts, and work weekends and evenings
