Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) in San Diego, CA is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our engineering team. You will turn customer goals into robust system solutions, collaborating with development and deployment teams to design, test, and deploy capabilities for DoD-scale programs.

The ideal candidate has a degree in an engineering or STEM field, 3–5+ years of experience, and strong analytic and communication skills. On-site with possible hybrid flexibility; occasional travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related STEM field, or equivalent full-time experience.
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to convert requirements into viable technical solutions.
• Strong mathematical and communication skills for rapid decisions.
• Understanding of SE/Software Engineering best practices; ability to work with customers.
• Understanding of test and integration; develop test methodologies.
• Ability to apply analysis to systems, data, and processes.
• Ability to understand system behavior from specifications.
• Knowledge of the SE V-Model.
• On‑site with potential hybrid flexibility.
• Up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop test/data algorithms to quantify system actions and outcomes.
• Define system performance requirements from customer needs; ensure interface compatibility.
• Apply advanced systems/software technologies to develop in-service and next-gen solutions.
• Plan, design, develop and verify system-of-systems solutions.
• Analyze and decompose requirements; generate test cases and procedures.
• Perform analyses to optimize system architecture.
• Evaluate feasibility by analyzing requirements and proposed solutions.
• Implement SysML model for Systems Engineering designs.
• Communicate with customers to understand needs and drive issues to closure.
