Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) seeks a Senior IT Systems Engineer to lead a team of systems and network engineers, advancing secured IT solutions for defense programs.

Based in Arlington, VA (on-site) with possibility of San Diego locations, you will architect, deploy, and secure enterprise IT systems, drive automation, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring RMF readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of relevant IT systems engineering experience.
• 2+ years directing engineering workflows or leading technical teams.
• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
• Proficiency with Bash, Python, and/or C scripting for automation.
• Extensive VMware virtualization experience and server/networking administration.
• Experience with security hardening, DISA STIG, and RMF readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of systems and network engineers, setting high standards.
• Architect and oversee installation of server/networking devices in racks and enclosures.
• Perform regular server updates, patching, and software installations enterprise-wide.
• Operate and maintain physical and virtual servers across Red Hat, Windows, and VMware platforms.
• Provision hardware and evaluate future hardware needs.
• Implement and review security processes, maintain permissions, and prepare RMF/DI assessments.
• Develop and maintain golden images for OS and VMs supporting business activities.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for systems and networks for diverse stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent full-time professional experience

7+ years' relevant experience

2+ years of experience leading technical teams or directing engineering workflows

Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Experience with Bash, C, and/or Python scripting

Experience with VMWARE and virtualization

Experience with patching, security hardening, and DISA STIG/ RMF readiness
