Job summary

BigBear.ai is seeking a Systems Engineer to support CBP and DHS, focusing on design, integration, and sustainment of cloud-based systems. You will work in a 24x7 mission environment, developing solutions for traveler processing and vetting systems across ports of entry.

Responsibilities include containerized environments with Docker/Kubernetes, IaC with Terraform/Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitLab, while applying DevSecOps practices and ensuring security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong Linux/Unix experience in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on AWS GovCloud and/or AWS C2S design, deployment, or maintenance.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production.
• IaC and automation using Terraform and Ansible.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools.
• DevSecOps practices applied in enterprise or mission-critical settings.
• System integration, testing, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; able to work independently.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required government clearance/background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, integrate, and maintain complex IT systems and infrastructure.
• Develop technical solutions supporting mission-critical applications and services.
• Design and manage cloud infrastructure within AWS GovCloud and/or AWS C2S.
• Develop and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation with Terraform and Ansible.
• Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitLab.
• Apply DevSecOps across system development, integration, testing, and deployment.
• Perform system integration, functional/testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Analyze complex system and infrastructure issues and develop sustainable solutions.
• Support Linux/Unix environments, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate system performance, reliability, scalability, and availability.
• Develop and maintain system architecture documentation and procedures.
• Collaborate with software, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and program teams.
• Ensure engineering activities align with security and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Participate in planning, design reviews, and operational support.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, automation, and reliability.
• Perform other related engineering duties as assigned.
