Job summary

defi SOLUTIONS is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Amherst, NY office. The role focuses on moving endpoint and infrastructure responsibilities from Helpdesk to Platform Engineering, with emphasis on migrating from WDS to Intune-based provisioning and management.

You will collaborate with Helpdesk, admins, developers, and security teams to implement secure, standardized enterprise tech, while maintaining documentation and participating in audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of endpoint deployment and management.
• Engineering and troubleshooting experience in infrastructure environments.
• Acted as technical resource on projects, implementations and escalations.
• Participated in audits and compliance reviews.
• Created and maintained documentation for networks, servers, configurations, mappings, processes and services.
• Developed process improvements and SOPs.
• MS O365 proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Be in the Amherst, NY office.
• Process service requests and support tickets; Tier 2 for hardware/software issues.
• Lead endpoint deployments for laptops/desktops/W365 Cloud PCs via WDS and Intune, including hardware shipping.
• Manage hardware inventory in ServiceNow.
• Maintain familiarity with Active Directory, GPO, and DNS.
• Assist with patching and security remediation.
• Contribute to project work and documentation.
• Support on-call rotations outside normal hours.
• Maintain system documentation for audits and compliance.

About The Role

The Systems Engineer supports the transition of endpoint and infrastructure responsibilities from Helpdesk to Platform Engineering. This position is responsible for endpoint deployment and management, server and endpoint patching, hardware implementation, and day-to-day technical operations of the Amherst office and server room. A primary focus will be assisting the Senior Systems Engineer with the migration from Windows Deployment Services (WDS) to Microsoft Intune-based endpoint provisioning and management.

As part of the Platform Engineering team, the Systems Engineer collaborates with Helpdesk, system administrators, developers, Information Security, system architects, Business Units, and other engineering teams to implement and maintain reliable, secure, and standardized enterprise technology solutions.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Ability to be in the Amherst, NY office
• Process service requests and support tickets as needed
  • Teir 2 support for escalations from helpdesk for hardware/software issues
  • Actively participate in incident calls, escalations, and problem reviews as appropriate.
• Endpoint deployment for associates including laptops/desktops/W365 Cloud PCs via WDS and Intune. Including shipping out hardware as needed.
• Hardware inventory management in ServiceNow
• Basic understanding of Active Directory, GPO, and DNS management
• Patching - Assist with weekly and monthly security/vulnerability remediation's with eventual ownership.
• Contributes to the technical work of projects
• Ability to work as part of a on call rotation outside of regular business hours by phone and ability to go into the office if the need arises.
• Maintain systems and documentation for the purposes of audits and compliance

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related IT fields.
• 3+ years of endpoint deployment and management
• Engineering and troubleshooting experience related to infrastructure and best practices in both end-user and data center environments
• Performed as the technical resource on projects, implementations, and escalations.
• Participate in industry standard and internal audits and compliance reviews.
• Create and maintain documentation relating to network, servers, configurations, mapping, processes, and services.
• Develop process improvements and standard operating procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Endpoint deployment and management ownership
• Intune and Azure experience
• Patch Management and Software deployments
• Experience with IT Change Management Process.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with the Business, the Clients, and with the Data Center Engineers and Operations for explaining and communicating detailed requirements and configurations.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain thorough knowledge of the infrastructure configuration and requirements for the supported products.
• Strong problem solving and technical skills.
• Work independently self-motivated.
• Willingness to support off-hour and weekend maintenance work when required.

Work Environment

• Typical work hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday Eastern Time and may require additional hours to complete tasks on weekdays or weekends.
