Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Systems Engineer (VDI) in Newington, VA to design, administer, and secure a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure for a DoD customer. The role requires hands-on Horizon VMware expertise, security compliance, and automation.

You will build VDI master images, manage thin clients, and develop PowerShell scripts to improve operations. On-site work with minimal travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8+ years of systems engineering or related experience.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) hosted on VMware vSphere.
• Experience managing thin-client environments, including Dell Wyse or similar platforms.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Knowledge of Group Policy (GPO) management within VDI environments.
• Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements.
• Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI) in Newington, VA to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer. This position will serve as a senior engineer responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise with Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), VMware vSphere, endpoint management, automation, and secure enterprise desktop solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools
• Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms
• Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience

Work Location:

• On-site in Newington, VA
• Less than 10% travel required

Compensations:

Salary Range: Up to $175,000 depending on experience
