The Systems Engineer is responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining IT infrastructure, security solutions, and user support services to ensure operational efficiency, security, and user satisfaction. This role combines technical expertise with project management and mentorship duties to support a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Document IT policies, procedures, and technical workflows to standardize operations and facilitate knowledge sharing
- Resolve IT support tickets originating from Jira-based request management systems with timeliness and accuracy
- Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure applications and tools: Entra ID / Azure Active Directory, SAML SSO integrations, Intune MDM, operating systems (Windows/Mac/Linux), and cloud workspace solutions such as AWS Workspaces (Virtual Desktops)
- Configure, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure: PF Sense firewalls, Cisco and Meraki access points, switches, and Ubiquiti network devices; utilize monitoring tools like New Relic and PagerDuty for network performance, availability, and incident alerts
- Develop scripting and automation workflows using PowerShell, Automox, and other tools to streamline patching, imaging, and routine maintenance for Windows and macOS devices
- Install, configure, and maintain AV systems, conference room AV equipment, and other peripheral hardware
- Provide in-office IT support at least four days per week, assisting with hardware, software, and network issues
- Take ownership of projects, develop timelines and milestones, and regularly report project and operational status to management
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, ensuring secure access and proper equipment provisioning
- Develop and maintain SOPs for IT operations and document weekly project and operational metrics for management review
- Make independent decisions on operational and technical issues, escalating as necessary
- Train, mentor, and support junior systems engineers and IT team members, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development
- Stay informed on emerging industry trends, propose innovative solutions to enhance business processes and technology infrastructure
- Adhere to organizational change management policies and procedures during system updates and deployments
- Maintain, support, and troubleshoot organizational management consoles and related systems
- Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned to support business needs
Core Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of IT operations support experience supporting a user base of 150+ users in an office environment
- Proven experience in IT service management tools and practices, including ITIL frameworks
- At least three years of project management experience leading IT initiatives and technology deployments
- Strong documentation skills with ability to produce detailed technical manuals and workflows
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a focus on user satisfaction and support
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience in managing cloud-based IT systems such as AWS, Salesforce, and Dropbox
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets) and collaboration tools like Atlassian Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of WiFi and network access point management and security
- Familiarity with database basics and network security principles
Core Technical Skills
- Configuration management and scripting: PowerShell, Automox, JAMF (macOS patching)
- Monitoring tools: New Relic, PagerDuty, other network/system monitoring solutions
- Security & compliance: CheckPoint Harmony, Vulnerability Scanners (e.g., Rapid 7)
- Remote management and endpoint security solutions
