Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned IT Systems Administrator to join our California team. You will design and maintain scalable IT systems, configure servers and networks, manage VMware environments, and oversee cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.

You will implement robust security controls, manage identity systems like Okta and Azure AD, and support the service desk while collaborating with cross-functional teams. On-call rotations and after-hours work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• Certs such as MCSE, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are valued.
• 4+ years of IT experience in systems administration and security.
• Experience configuring Windows/Linux, LAN/WAN networks, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
• Scripting with PowerShell or Python and IT automation tools is beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of user management, backups, security policies, and monitoring.
• Familiar with firewall, VPN, VLANs, and network security concepts including IDS/IPS.

Responsibilities

Job description

Responsibilities

• Comply with the regulatory recordkeeping requirements, including retaining, archiving, and producing the electronic communication data according to the applicable laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design efficient, scalable IT systems.
• Install, configure, and deploy hardware and software components including servers, networks, operating systems, databases, and applications.
• Monitor and maintain the health and performance of IT systems, ensuring smooth operations and resolving issues or outages.
• Perform routine maintenance such as patching, updates, resource optimization, and backups.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks. Analyze performance trends and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
• Provide technical support to end-users, assisting with software configuration, hardware troubleshooting, and the proper utilization of IT resources.
• Maintain accurate documentation for IT systems, network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Implement and maintain security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus protections, access controls, and disaster recovery practices to safeguard systems and data.
• Manage and maintain key identity management systems including Okta, Azure AD, and associated dependent systems.
• Provide technical support to the Service Desk when requested and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless user experience and issue resolution.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and perform after‑hours work as needed to support system maintenance or resolve urgent issues.
• Manage assigned projects and deliver tasks on time while meeting established quality standards.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often required.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSE, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are highly valued.
• 4+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing operating systems (Windows, Linux), networks (LAN/WAN), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python and IT automation tools is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of user management, file systems, security policies, backup strategies, and system monitoring practices.
• Familiarity with routing, switching, VPN, VLANs, firewalls, wireless technologies, and network security concepts including access control, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption.
• Experience managing and supporting: VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and VMware Horizon View, Okta SSO, Proofpoint email filtering, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, SharePoint, and OneDrive, 8x8 System (voice platform)
