Systems Engineer Omaha, NE and Lincoln, NE Onsite Direct Hire $75,000 - $80,000+, DOE
This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems and Network Engineer to manage and optimize a state-of-the-art enterprise technology environment. You will deliver high-level IT infrastructure support, specializing in Microsoft 365, Windows Server, VMware virtualization, and robust network environments (LAN/WAN, firewalls, and routers). This position balances deep technical execution—such as deploying remote access VPNs, monitoring client networks, and managing disaster recovery solutions with active client communication, technical sales assistance, and meticulous documentation using ConnectWise (CW). Acting as a vital link between clients and internal teams, you will also help maintain service levels by mentoring junior engineers and representing the organization dynamically within the community. Core Responsibilities:
- Provide IT Support relating to issues with internal systems and network infrastructures
- Provide support services for Microsoft related technologies: Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Exchange, etc.
- Provide support services for virtualization technologies with VMware
- Provide technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls and stitching
- Provide support for disaster recovery solutions
- Provide remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, etc.
- Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructures.
- Communicate with customers and internal team
- Inform all of incident progress and notify them of impending changes and agreed outages
- Maintain service awareness and understanding of all organization key IT services, support tools, and techniques used to provide services
- Maintain and monitor client networks
- Escalate service or project issues that cannot be completed within agreed service levels
- Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
- Assist with technical sales processes
- Enter time and expenses, work through a daily schedule, and enter all work as service or project tickets in CW
- Represent client in a positive manner to customers and the community
- Mentor and assist Jr. engineers, as required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Professional IT Certifications: Microsoft MCSA or MCSE, SonicWall CSSA, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP
- Serve as a role model in the department
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change
- Provide excellent customer service via active listening and communication
- Ability to provide customer care and support via telephone, in-person and email communication
- Ability to diagnose and match resources to address technical issues appropriately
- Maintain client business acumen such as specific knowledge of the customer and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals
- 3-5 years of experience in a System Administrator or comparable role
