Job summary

Links Technology Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer in Hagerstown, MD. The role focuses on MBSE, requirements management, and V&V for advanced aerospace and defense systems. Onsite, full-time, 12+ month contract.

You will lead architecture, model-based design, and system integration across multidisciplinary teams while identifying risks and ensuring performance objectives are achieved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of MBSE, requirements management, and V&V.
• Experience with DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with INCOSE standards.

Responsibilities

• Research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify, and improve advanced engineering products and systems.
• Develop complex system architectures using MBSE methodologies.
• Support the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept through design, integration and testing.
• Perform requirements analysis, including derivation and traceability.
• Lead systems design and integration across multidisciplinary teams.

Summary

Our aerospace and defense client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the research, design, development, and integration of advanced engineering systems. This role focuses on systems architecture, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements management, and verification and validation of complex aerospace and defense technologies.

Description – Systems Engineer

• Research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify, and improve advanced engineering products and systems.
• Develop complex system architectures using contextual modeling platforms and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
• Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, from operational concept through preliminary design, detailed design, simulation, integration, and testing.
• Perform requirements analysis, including functional requirements parsing, derivation, allocation, and traceability.
• Lead systems design and integration activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Apply Verification and Validation (V&V) principles to ensure system requirements and performance objectives are achieved.
• Support system-level ownership of new products, processes, and technologies throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct engineering trade studies to evaluate design alternatives and optimize system performance.
• Support baseline definition, configuration maturation, and technical performance tracking.
• Establish and monitor Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs) to evaluate system performance and development progress.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful integration and delivery of complex systems.

Qualifications – Systems Engineer

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Typically 6+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering design and development teams.
• Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements decomposition, derivation, and allocation.
• Experience with systems design, systems integration, technical risk management, and Verification and Validation (V&V).
• Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
• Experience with requirements management and systems modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, or MATLAB preferred.
• Familiarity with INCOSE standards or INCOSE certification preferred.
• Aerospace and defense industry experience preferred.
• Experience managing system baselines and conducting engineering trade studies within complex development environments preferred.
• Knowledge of Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs) and performance tracking preferred.
• Practical knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles preferred.
• Ability to work in an engineering environment requiring frequent walking, sitting, standing, stair climbing, and repetitive hand and finger movements.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, fumes, hazardous materials, or loud noises.
