The Role
We’re looking for a Systems Engineer who lives where the subsystems meet. If you get excited about taking mechanical, electrical, and software pieces from different benches and making them work as one system, leading the bring-up campaigns that get it wet, and chasing down the cross-domain challenges that only show up at integration, this is your role.
What You’ll Do
- Integrate maritime vehicles end-to-end: stand up new subsystems on the bench, wire them into the platform, and bring the full platform online
- Build and run hardware-in-the-loop rigs, test fixtures, and bench setups that let us shake out interfaces before we hit the water
- Lead test campaigns from bench to tank to sea trials: write the procedures, run the runs, capture the data, and close the loop with the team
- Debug across the stack; power, comms, sensors, mechanical, firmware, autonomy
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
- Own integration risk and readiness: know what’s tested and what we need to prove before each event
- Push the limits of what’s possible in subsea autonomy and robotics by getting things working, reliably in the real world
What You Bring
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years integrating real-world robotic, vehicle, or complex hardware/software systems
- Hands-on experience standing up subsystems on the bench: harnessing, power up, comms bring-up, sensor checkout
- Strong test instincts: you know how to design a test that and how to instrument it, so the data is useful
- Comfort moving across domains, reading a schematic, scoping a signal, sniffing a CAN/Ethernet bus, and reading enough firmware or autonomy code to find a bug
- Comfort working with a small team and wearing many hats
- U.S. citizen; eligible for DoD security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Experience integrating and testing maritime systems other unmanned platforms
- Hands‑on with lab and test gear: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bus sniffers, DAQs, environmental and pressure test setups
- Working knowledge of Python (or similar) for test automation, data capture, and log analysis
- Active DoD Secret clearance
Who You Are
- You like to get your hands dirty, tracing a harness, scoping a signal, debugging on a boat, and you’d rather be in the lab than in a document
- Collaborative, but independent, driving your own workload but knowing when to pull the team together
- Passionate about robotics, autonomy, and building tech that matters
