The Role
This isn’t just engineering - it’s pioneering. We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who loves building and wants to put real hardware in the ocean. If you get excited about designing systems that can survive extreme subsea environments, building prototypes, running sea trials, and solving new problems, this is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Design, prototype, and iterate on mechanical systems (structures, housings, actuators, propulsion, sealing systems) that perform in subsea environments.
- Collaborate tightly with a small, cross-functional team (electrical, software, and systems engineers)
- Take concepts from CAD to prototype, testing, to at-sea deployment
- Develop waterproofing, sealing, and structural solutions for high-pressure and corrosive environments
- Own your work end-to-end: design, fabricate, test, deploy, debug, repeat
- Push the limits of what’s possible in subsea mechanical engineering
What You Bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years in Mechanical Engineer or related field
- Prior experience in designing and building mechanical systems (lab, industry, or personal projects)
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience with structural analysis (FEA) and materials selection
- Familiarity with machining, rapid prototyping, and fabrication methods
- Comfortable working with a small team and wearing many hats
- Strong problem-solving drive: when something breaks, you dive in and fix it
- U.S. citizen; eligible for DoD security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Experience designing for maritime, automotive, subsea, aerospace, defense, or other ruggedized platforms
- Knowledge of sealing, waterproofing, corrosion resistance, and subsea housings
- Experience with fluid dynamics, propulsion, or hydrodynamic modeling
- Hands‑on fabrication experience (CNC, composites, welding, additive manufacturing)
- Active DoD Secret clearance
