The Role
We’re building the next generation of maritime robotics. This isn’t just engineering; it’s pioneering. We’re looking for a Technical Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves building real things, and wants to own getting our platforms from the shop floor to the water. You’ll be the connective tissue across mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing, turning ambitious goals into executable plans and making sure we hit them. You’ll own execution of our internal development process for our flagship platform.
What You’ll Do
- Own the integrated program schedule for our platform development, from early design through prototype build, test, and delivery
- Translate product goals and leadership priorities into clear scope, milestones, and work breakdowns that engineering teams can execute against
- Run the cadence: standups, design reviews, and internal milestone gates that keep the team aligned without slowing it down
- Identify, track, and burn down technical and schedule risks before they become problems; maintain a living risk register with real mitigation plans
- Coordinate hardware build and test campaigns, including long‑lead procurement, supplier deliveries, test range and vessel scheduling, and at‑sea test logistics
- Manage dependencies across disciplines so the wire harness is ready when the hull is, and the software build is ready when the vehicle hits the water
- Keep leadership informed with clear, honest status on schedule, risk, and resourcing; surface the decisions that need to be made and the trade‑offs behind them
- Track program budgets, burn rates, and resource allocation; flag variances early and propose trade‑offs
- Get hands‑on: when a test slips, a part is late, or two teams are solving the same problem differently, you’re in the room (or on the dock) driving it to resolution
- Build and refine the program management processes, tools, and templates we’ll need as we scale from one platform to many
What You Bring
- Degree in Engineering, a technical field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in technical program or project management roles, with at least some of that time on physical hardware development
- Proven track record taking complex electromechanical systems from concept through prototype and into test or production
- Working fluency in mechanical, electrical, and software development cycles; enough to ask the right questions and spot schedule risk in a technical discussion
- Experience building and managing integrated master schedules (MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar) and tracking work in tools like Jira
- Comfort with requirements management, configuration control, and systems engineering fundamentals
- Experience managing suppliers, long‑lead procurement, and build logistics
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to brief an engineer, a technician, and an executive in the same afternoon
- Comfort working with a small team and wearing many hats
- U.S. citizen; eligible for DoD security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Experience on maritime, subsea, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other ruggedized platforms
- Experience in early‑stage or R&D‑heavy hardware environments where priorities shift and the plan has to keep up
- Experience planning and executing field or at‑sea test events
- Right‑sized experience with PLM, ERP, or program management systems; enough structure to scale, not so much that it slows the team down
- A track record of hacking, building, or shipping hardware outside of “normal” work
- Active DoD Secret clearance
Who You Are
- You’re not afraid of the shop floor or the dock; you understand the work because you’ve been close to it
- Comfortable with ambiguity; you see constraints as opportunities
- Organized and relentless about follow‑through, but pragmatic about process; you know when a checklist helps and when it gets in the way
- Collaborative, but independent, driving the program forward while staying tightly coupled with design, test, and manufacturing
- Passionate about robotics, hardware, and building tech that matters
