Lonza in Portsmouth, NH, is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our IT infrastructure, with emphasis on MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) integration and reliability across plant systems.

Administer, monitor, and maintain manufacturing execution systems using Emerson Syncade (or equivalent such as Lonza MODA-ES and Rockwell Pharma Suite) including application servers, web servers, system interfaces, and other integration points.
Support batch record execution, electronic work instructions, and material tracking performance within the MES environments.
Coordinate MES patching, upgrades, and system validation testing in accordance with change control procedures.
Serve as primary technical point of contact for MES-related system incidents, working closely with production, automation engineering teams, and quality to minimize downtime.
Support connectivity between MES, DCS, analytical systems, and PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen, Siemens) via Kepware, OPC Router, or similar middleware.
Troubleshoot MES and historian data flow, perform ad-hoc queries, join on-call 24/7 rotations, and work with other teams and external vendors.
Maintain IT and regulatory standards, and write documentation for system setups and processes.
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent practical experience with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
3+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and SQL Server.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server administration, application troubleshooting, including hands-on experience with Active Directory and related Windows services and an understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware or HyperV.
Administering MES platforms like Emerson Syncade and using PowerShell or Visual Basic for scripting.
Managing tools like Kepware, FactoryTalk, OPC Router, data historians, and DCOM/OPC setups.
Working within the strict rules of a validated manufacturing environment.
Strong teamwork, communication, and relevant industry certifications.
