  • Design hardware and tubing interfaces for pressure vessels.
  • Prepare design packages and documentation (DFMEA, DVP, etc.).
  • Support product validation activities and root-cause analysis.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $95,000.00 Annually

Our design engineering group plays an important role in driving that transformation.

Hexagon Agility, a leading global provider of clean fuel solutions, is driving the energy transformation in the transport sector. Our technology enables hard to decarbonize segments – such as trucks and buses – to move from diesel to cleaner fuel alternatives.

We are looking for an ambitious and driven colleague that wants to work closely with our global System Design Engineering Team.

The System Design Engineer is responsible for designing system structures, associated hardware, and collaborating with pressure vessels. This includes creating and managing the necessary design documentation (compliance matrix, drawings, specifications, DFMEA, DVP, etc.). This position is also responsible for providing technical support to the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize system assemblies according to customer, internal, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop finite element analysis models and perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis
  • Design hardware associated with system assemblies
  • Design tubing assemblies to interface with pressure vessels
  • Participate in the conception, planning, and execution of projects
  • Prepare the product design package
  • Present work in written and verbal form to colleagues, customers, and suppliers
  • Define and support product validation activities
  • Root Cause and failure analysis of difficult mechanical problems
  • Write reports, develop presentations, and author technical proposals
  • Represent the Design Engineering group as a member of a project team
  • Recognize industry and market trends
  • Able to fulfill roles and responsibilities with limited supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Preferrable Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical
  • Two to five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with:
  • Regulations, codes, and standards
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Designing for cost and manufacturability
  • Composites and pressure vessel design
  • Quality management systems (QMS)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Analytical, strong in math and data analysis
  • Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills with a forward-looking and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Initiative to learn through various mediums
  • Able to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead simple projects
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks throughout the development cycle
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity
  • Adept at making appropriate decisions using sound judgement
  • Willing to support where needed and be hands-on in a messy environmentAble to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a strong sense of urgency

  • Understanding of:
  • Computer aided design (CAD) (e.g. SolidWorks)
  • Finite element analysis (e.g. Ansys)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Programming (e.g. VBA, Python, Ansys APDL)
  • Structural and mechanics of materials analysis
  • Standard drafting practices (e.g. GD&T, ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk eight hours per day and carry up to 20 pounds
  • Travel, both domestic and international, up to: 50% during the first year; 10% after the first year
