Job summary

National Instruments (NI) in Austin, TX seeks a seasoned Hardware Systems Design Engineer with 8+ years in hardware or test engineering. You will lead design, prototyping, testing, and deployment of turnkey automation solutions, interfacing with customers, partners, and suppliers to ensure deployment readiness.

Expertise in LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++, schematics and BOMs, and a strong systems integration mindset are required. Some travel is anticipated to support project objectives.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology.
• Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architecture.
• Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#).
• Demonstrated understanding of measurement error sources and appropriate test/instrumentation choices.
• Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams; integration of hardware and software.
• Bill of Materials creation/review; familiarity with CAD/PCB design tools.
• Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R); Cable Harness Design.
• Hands-on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools.
• Knowledge of Component Supplier Selection and Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, etc.).
• Hands-on use of NI hardware platforms and instruments; NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
• US Person status; eligible for DoD clearances.

Responsibilities
