Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer to support research, design, implementation and operation of on‑premises and cloud infrastructure and associated services across multiple data centers. You will provide technical leadership for O365, cloud infra, security and monitoring, with a focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field required.
3+ years of experience with planning, designing, implementing, integrating, maintaining and supporting large systems and cloud infra (Office 365 preferred).
Veterans' preference documentation may be required per Florida statutes.

Responsibilities

Assist Senior System Engineer to develop and maintain docs, standards, policies for IT and cloud infra.
Plan, design, deploy, integrate, monitor, maintain and support IAM, physical, VMware and cloud services (IaaS) across data centers.
Provide level‑3 troubleshooting, root cause analysis and guidance to junior staff.
Develop monitoring, alerting, reporting, automation and capacity plans with cross‑team collaboration.
Prepare technical specifications for RFPs, SOWs, and procurement of infra equipment/services.
