Job summary

Magnetic Products, Inc. (MPI) is seeking a Systems Engineer to design how the engineering department operates within an engineer-to-order model. You’ll own CPQ and CAD platforms, build scalable parametric models, and standardize designs for efficient flow from sales to shop floor.

You’ll drive engineering processes, manage ECR/ECN, and push for a paperless transition, enabling MPI to scale while reducing bottlenecks and improving manufacturability across product families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in a manufacturing or engineer-to-order environment, with exposure to process, systems, or design engineering.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD and PDM systems (Autodesk Inventor/Vault or comparable).
• Experience with parametric or rules-based modeling, and cross-functional systems between engineering and sales.
• Experience with CPQ platforms and understanding of CPQ workflows.
• Understanding of ECR/ECN and how build instructions flow to manufacturing.
• Strong process-improvement mindset and ability to create repeatable structures.
• Excellent cross-functional communication; translate between sales, engineering, and production.
• Self-directed ownership of systems end-to-end from definition to rollout.
• Comfortable using AI tools to speed up modeling, documentation, and process work.

Responsibilities

• Own CPQ and CAD platforms to drive adoption across sales and engineering.
• Build scalable parametric models enabling standard designs to flow from sales to shop floor.
• Standardize design, features, components, materials, and fasteners for manufacturability.
• Define and implement engineering processes; manage ECR/ECN and communicate build instructions.
• Create clear distinctions between customer-facing specs and engineering specs; push for one standard.
• Lead paperless transition for engineering documentation and tool adoption.
• Direct implementation of new software tools across the engineering department.
