Job summary

Magnetic Products Inc. (MPI) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and take real machines from concept to production. You will own projects across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership, with hands-on development, testing, and field deployment.

The role emphasizes strong fundamentals, manufacturability, and direct impact on safety and product quality. Highland, MI on-site, full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on mechanical design/R&D experience.
• Strong fundamentals in structures, materials, and motion systems.
• Experience designing for manufacturability.
• Knowledge of machining, casting, welding, and additive manufacturing.
• Experience with conveyors and/or magnetics.
• APQP processes, validation plans, and FMEA knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems from concept through production.
• Perform design reviews, validation testing, and clear documentation.
• Build and test prototypes in-house and in the field when needed.
• Investigate failures and improve designs based on real performance.
• Support installations and testing at customer sites (~10%).
• Collaborate with controls, manufacturing, and customers across projects.
