Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a highly experienced Application Engineer in Packet Inspection (DPI) and IP probes to support the R&S ipoque product lines. You will lead PoCs, optimize integrations, and mentor customers deploying IP analytics in production environments.

This role blends software engineering with customer-facing enablement. The position requires Linux networking expertise and strong coding in C/C++ and Rust, with hands-on work on DPDK, Netfilter, and Docker-based deployments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's in EE/CS or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years as Solution Architect, System Engineer, or Application Engineer.
  • Strong C/C++ and Rust coding skills.
  • Deep knowledge of packet processing in Linux.
  • Hands-on IP probes, DPDK, Netfilter, and Docker-based deployments.
  • Experience integrating SDKs into routers, SD-WAN platforms, and 5G firmware.
  • Experience building reproducible build pipelines for embedded systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% across US, Canada, and Europe.
  • US residency and valid US work authorization required.

Recently named by Newsweek as one of the Best American Mid-Sized Workplaces in 2026, Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a highly experienced Application Engineer in Packet Inspection (DPI), IP probes technologies, and high-performance packet processing to support the R&S ipoque product lines. This role is a blend of deep technical engineering, customer integration leadership, and technical enablement. You will lead strategic proof of concepts, solve advanced integration challenges, optimize runtime performance, and act as a trusted advisor to customers deploying R&S IP analytics products into complex production environments. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, telecommunication architecture and customer-facing application engineering.

Your tasks
  • Lead customer proof of concepts (PoCs) for R&S DPI and Probe prospects

Your Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect, System Engineer or Application Engineer
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Rust
  • Deep understanding of packet processing in Linux environments
  • Hands‑on experience with IP probes, DPDK, Netfilter, and Docker-based deployments
  • Proven ability to integrate SDKs into routers, SD-WAN platforms, 5G network functions, and other firmware-based systems
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production-hardening of network analytics or DPI integrations
  • Experience creating reproducible build pipelines and platform-specific builds for embedded/network environments
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, up to 30%
  • In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and have valid US work authorization.

The total compensation for this position is $120K-$180K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
