Job summary

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP in Rochester, NY seeks a Systems Administrator to maintain and protect our IT infrastructure. The role emphasizes strong customer service, issue resolution, and continuity planning with attention to security and compliance.

The successful candidate will install OS patches, configure servers, manage backups, and participate in IT projects. A bachelor's degree in IT or related field and 3-5 years of experience are preferred, with certifications a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field; 3-5 years in system administration.
• High-level understanding of Windows 365.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, AD, and Group Policy.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and endpoint management.
• IT security, compliance, and disaster recovery planning/testing.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; service orientation to internal clients.
• Desire to learn emerging technologies.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues; implement long-term solutions.
• Install OS software, patches, upgrades.
• Configure, optimize, monitor OS software and servers.
• Perform backups and recovery.
• Analyze and resolve hardware, software, networking issues.
• Lead or assist IT infrastructure projects.
• Maintain documentation for configurations and procedures.
• Oversight of IT assets and inventory per state regulations.
• Administer system-wide configurations (group policy, software deployment).
• Work within a ticketing system; document resolutions; contribute to knowledge base.
• Participate in business continuity planning to test processes.
• Other projects as assigned by Network Engineering Manager and CIO.
