Job summary

SURGE Staffing is seeking a Systems Administrator to manage a robust IT infrastructure, including Windows Server environments, VMware ESX, AD, and storage solutions. You will ensure security, reliability, and continuity of critical services while providing expert technical support to staff.

The role emphasizes proactive performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, and strong collaboration with the IT team to minimize downtime and protect confidential information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least three years of systems administration experience and infrastructure support.
• Hands-on with Windows Server 2016+ and Exchange 2016; familiar with VMware ESX and SAN environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain VMware ESX environments and Windows Server infrastructure.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, domain accounts, security groups, permissions, and file services.
• Maintain core services (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP); monitor performance, capacity, and security.
• Troubleshoot TCP/IP connectivity and network issues; support SAN storage infrastructure.
• Support backup and disaster recovery activities with Veeam; perform server hardening and access controls.
• Provide technical help desk support for servers, printers, storage, and applications.
• Document procedures and maintain inventories; participate in after-hours maintenance.
