Qualifications

  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain servers running RedHat Linux operating systems.
  • Upgrades and Maintenance: Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades and transitions to production.
  • Monitoring and Performance: Monitor logs and system performance to resolve issues in mission-critical systems.
  • Backups and Recovery: Schedule and monitor backups and perform data recoveries when needed.
  • Hardware Configuration: Configure hardware including workstations, printers, servers, and tape devices.
  • Support: Participate in on-call rotation for UNIX/Linux-related issues and user support.
  • Security Compliance: Follow DISA STIG procedures to maintain security posture.
  • Task Automation: Schedule tasks using tools and scripts.
  • Collaboration & Prioritization: Work independently and in teams to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Required Certification(s):

  • DoW 8140 Compliance – CompTIA Security+ or Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Systems Security Certified Practitioner
  • Certifications in RedHat Linux or Unix OS administration

Responsibilities include:

  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain servers running RedHat Linux operating systems, adhering to established internal processes
  • Upgrades and Maintenance: Recommend hardware and software upgrades based on growth statistics. Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments
  • Monitoring and Performance: Monitor log files and system performance to identify and resolve software, operating system, and networking problems in mission-critical systems
  • Backups and Recovery: Schedule, perform, and monitor system backups and, when necessary, perform data recoveries
  • Hardware Configuration: Configure hardware, such as workstations, printers, servers, and tape devices
