Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory's SSRL division seeks a Systems Administrator to support IT and OT infrastructure for accelerator operations and beamline data acquisition. You'll manage NAS/SAN, virtualization, and cross-platform server administration in a multi-os environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and 5 years' experience, strong Windows and Linux proficiency, LDAP/AD, networking, and security know-how, with an emphasis on reliability and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5 years' sysadmin experience.
• Experience with Windows and Linux, and multi-system platforms.
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, LAN switching, WAN routing, and firewall knowledge.
• Proactive, independent worker with good communication.
• Knowledge of data center infrastructure including HVAC and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain NAS and SAN systems.
• Provision physical and virtual systems across Linux and Windows.
• Perform hypervisor administration for VM management.
• Maintain storage, datastores, and network settings for virtual systems.
• Apply patches and firmware updates to systems.
• Monitor performance and ensure reliability and availability.
• Implement cybersecurity and compliance measures.
• Create and manage user accounts and access permissions.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems.
• Assist with storage capacity planning and analyze usage trends.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software failures.
• Document architecture and procedures.
• Coordinate cross-division maintenance meetings.
