Job summary

UCAR, a premier research institution, seeks an IT Support Specialist to enable scientists and staff by removing technical barriers. The role delivers hands-on Windows and Mac support, works across NRIT, and assists users with AI tools such as Claude and Gemini. Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus are essential.

You will build strong lab relationships, document solutions, automate routine tasks, and help optimize research workflows in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of education and hands-on IT support experience.
• Experience in customer-facing IT support for scientific or administrative staff.
• Proficiency with Windows and macOS workstation administration.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and Gemini is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary liaison for NCAR labs, helping end users overcome IT obstacles.
• Maintain NRIT-managed Windows and Mac workstation environments.
• Write and run utility scripts to automate routine tasks.
• Provide onboarding and troubleshooting for AI tools like Claude and Gemini.
• Create self-help guides and maintain knowledge bases.
• Participate in NRIT meetings and cross-team collaborations.
